This October Bible reading plan is created especially for anyone longing to look beyond the shadow of death, find eternal rest, and put compassionate love into practice. With just 10–15 minutes of daily reading, we will spend the first twenty-two days exploring the glorious hope of eternity found in 1 Corinthians 15, Romans 8, and Revelation 21, where God promises an end to death, sorrow, crying, and pain. During the final nine days, we will return to the Old Testament to witness Abraham welcoming strangers, Ruth receiving Boaz’s kindness, Jonathan’s faithful friendship with David, and David’s compassionate care for Mephibosheth. Welcome to October!
As we come to understand God’s presence and redemption in Christ, our vision begins to extend beyond present suffering and the brevity of earthly life. This month’s reading journey leads us from eternal hope to compassionate care in everyday life.
The October reading plan unfolds through two glorious and deeply personal stages:
The Promise of Eternity, Resurrection, and Glory (October 1–22): For twenty-two consecutive days, we will focus on some of the Bible’s most powerful passages concerning resurrection and eternal life. We will begin with Isaiah’s promise that “thy dead men shall live,” move into the triumphant resurrection chapter of 1 Corinthians 15, and receive the assurance of Romans 8 that nothing can separate us from the love of God. We will then arrive at Revelation 21, where God Himself dwells with His people, wipes away all tears, and brings an end to death, sorrow, crying, and pain. These promises give us courage to face uncertainty, suffering, and mortality without fear.
Love, Hospitality, and Faithful Care (October 23–31): With eternal hope in our hearts, we will return to the needs of the present world. We will see Abraham warmly welcome strangers in Genesis 18, Ruth receive Boaz’s generous protection in Ruth 2, Jonathan remain faithfully devoted to David in 1 Samuel 20, and David show kindness to Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9. Finally, through the silent presence of Job’s friends in Job 2, we will reflect on the meaning of sincere companionship in times of suffering.
May eternal hope fill your heart and overflow through your life in practical acts of kindness, mercy, and love.
