As June draws toward its end, the pace of life may still be demanding. Along the way, we inevitably encounter physical ailments, mental exhaustion, or long-standing limitations that do not seem to change overnight. When we feel overwhelmed, it is natural for a quiet whisper of frustration to arise: Why hasn't this burden been lifted? Why can't I be stronger?
Today, we will read 2 Corinthians 12, which records one of the most vulnerable and deeply moving confessions of the Apostle Paul.
Paul had experienced remarkable spiritual visions, yet in his personal life, he carried a persistent, painful "thorn in the flesh." Three times he pleaded with the Lord to take it away. But instead of instantly removing the hardship, the Lord answered with a gentle yet unshakeable promise: "My grace is sufficient for thee." Through this, Paul discovered that weakness is not a sign of being forgotten, but the very place where God's power rests upon us like a protective shelter.

Chapter 12 of 2 Corinthians is a deeply personal section of Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth.
At the time, Paul was responding to misunderstandings and challenges within the community. To affirm his call, he humbly recounted a heavenly vision from fourteen years prior. Yet rather than boasting about high spiritual experiences, he chose to speak openly of his "infirmities."
To keep him from becoming proud, he was given a "thorn in the flesh"—a term referring to a severe physical illness, eye trouble, or painful ongoing distress.
Three Prayers & Intimate Dialogue: Paul was no unfeeling spiritual titan; he felt pain deeply and begged the Lord three times to remove it. Yet the Lord did not alter the circumstance; instead, He gave a higher revelation: The difficulty may remain, but God's grace will always outmeasure the difficulty.
Power Made Perfect: God's strength is not displayed when we feel self-sufficient, but when we acknowledge our frailty and allow His grace to completely cover and uphold us.
This context reassures us: even if a "thorn" or a weakness lingers in our life today, we do not need to lose heart. Our Lord’s grace is more than enough to shelter us through every step.

2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

19 Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

1. Light 💡
What touches our hearts most in 2 Corinthians 12 is God's gentle acceptance and sheltering of our frailty.
Grace Always Exceeds Your Need: We often think grace only means the removing of a struggle, but Paul’s story reveals that God often gives us sustaining strength within the circumstance. "Sufficient for thee" means that no matter how heavy the load, God's grace will always be a little greater.
Weakness as a Bridge to Divine Power: You never have to pretend to be invincible before God. The moment you honestly say, "Lord, I am tired / I cannot do this on my own," is the exact moment His power pitches its tent over your life.
2. Stillness & Reflection 💭
Today, let God's Word gently prompt your heart:
Is there a "thorn" in my life or physical body that I have longed to remove? Have I felt discouraged because it remains?
Am I willing to hear the Lord whisper to me, "My grace is sufficient for thee," and shift my focus from the thorn to His upholding grace?
3. Gentle Practice 🍃
An Act of Unloading: Sometime today, gently place a hand over an area of physical discomfort, or hold in mind a situation where you feel powerless. Cup your hands open and quietly say: "Lord, You know my weakness; let Your sufficient grace cover me today."
Carrying a Promise: Keep verse 9 in mind (“My grace is sufficient for thee”). Whenever you feel physically drained or emotionally low today, repeat it slowly to yourself, resting in His embrace.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for speaking so tenderly to my heart through 2 Corinthians 12 today. Thank You that You never ask me to put on a brave face, and that You know every physical ache and emotional exhaustion I carry.
Lord, when I face "thorns" or limitations in life that do not immediately go away, let me hear Your gentle voice saying, "My grace is sufficient for thee." Let Your divine power shelter my weakness, granting me quietness and assurance that I am held securely in Your love.
May Your grace and peace wrap around my heart today.
