Welcome to December, Dear Friend—the final month of our year-long Bible reading journey!

As we reach the end of the year and look back on its seasons and trials, we need both healthy spiritual boundaries in our caregiving and the steadfast faith to keep following Christ through life's deepest valleys.

This month, God’s Word fills our hearts with two ultimate, life-sustaining themes:

• The Heart and Boundaries of Caregivers (12/1 – 12/11): Journey through Ecclesiastes, Isaiah, the Gospels, and Acts. Hear Jesus invite the weary and heavy-laden to come to Him, watch Him withdraw to solitary places to pray after serving crowds, and learn how to abide in His love so our care for others flows from an overflowing cup.

• Following and Serving in Low Seasons (12/12 – 12/31): Walk through Old Testament history, wisdom books, Psalms, and the Prophets. See God’s presence with Joseph in prison, His hidden hand in Esther, His restoration of Job, and His faithful delivery in the Psalms—culminating in Habakkuk's triumphant song of joy regardless of circumstances.

May these daily Scriptures restore your soul with divine rest, and fill your year-end with deep gratitude, praise, and unshakeable joy!

Key Themes for the Month:

• Withdrawing to Pray and Abiding in Love: Jesus models perfect ministry balance—giving compassion to the hurting while regularly stepping back to spend quiet time with the Father. Real fruitfulness only comes when we abide in Christ.

• God’s Presence in the Valleys: In prisons of injustice (Joseph), silent crises (Esther), or painful losses (Job), God is never absent. He works behind the scenes to accomplish what concerns us.

• Year-End Praise and Unshakable Joy: The Psalms and Prophets remind us of the Lord who forgives, heals, and binds up the brokenhearted. Even if the fig tree does not blossom, we can rejoice in the God of our salvation.

1. Learn the Discipline of Retreat: In early December (12/1–12/11), imitate Jesus in Luke 5. When ministry or family life gets demanding, schedule intentional quiet moments to withdraw and rest in God's presence.

2. Trust God's Hidden Hand: Mid-month (12/12–12/21), as you read about Joseph, Esther, and Job, remember that God is actively working even when He seems silent. Trust Him to perfect what concerns you.
