I am Dandelion, your Bible reading companion. I am so glad to gather with you in this quiet moment to step into God's Word together and receive the peace and grace given from above.
The days of April are moving swiftly. Amidst the busyness of daily life, we inevitably encounter small ripples or unexpected, unsettling news. When our external environment shifts or uncertain challenges arise, our inner calm is often the first thing to be disrupted. We long for a sense of stability that doesn't fluctuate with circumstances, allowing our anxious minds to find a resting place.
Today, we will read Isaiah 26, often celebrated as a song of salvation filled with steadfast hope.
Facing a season of turmoil and transition, the prophet Isaiah chose not to fixate on the chaotic world around him. Instead, he envisioned a strong city fortified by Godās salvation. He reveals to us a precious spiritual truth: genuine peace does not come from a perfectly smooth environment, but from keeping our mind stayed firmly upon God.
As you read Isaiah 26 today, I invite you to keep these two perspectives in mind:
The Source of Perfect Peace: Notice verse 3, where God promises "perfect peace" to a specific kind of heart. How does this peace differ from the temporary comfort the world offers?
The Everlasting Rock: Verse 4 encourages us to "trust in the Lord forever." In a constantly changing world, how does God act as an unshakeable Rock that upholds us in every fragile moment?

Isaiah 26 was written during a time when the nation faced severe threats from surrounding powers and intense social instability.
The people lived under the constant shadow of war and loss, feeling deeply insecure. Yet in verses 1ā4, Isaiah paints a strikingly different picture: God builds a "strong city" for His people, whose walls and bulwarks are constructed not of stone, but of His salvation.
A Mind Stayed on Him: In the original Hebrew, "perfect peace" is written as Shalom Shalom (double peace), signifying the fullest, most unshakeable tranquility. The key to receiving this peace is having a mind that is "stayed" (steadfastly anchored) on God.
The Everlasting Rock: Verse 4 proclaims, "In the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength" (literally, an Everlasting Rock). In the arid wilderness of the Ancient Near East, a massive rock was the ultimate shelter from scorching heat and fierce storms.
This context reassures us: even if we cannot control the changing tides around us, we can enjoy deep rest inside His strong city whenever we fix our minds on His unchanging faithfulness.

26 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:
5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.
8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

What comforts our hearts most in Isaiah 26 is Godās gentle guard over our inner world.
Peace is a Choice of Focus: Verse 3 reminds us that Godās peace does not wait for the storm to clear before arriving; it meets us right in the middle of it. When we shift our focus away from the source of anxiety and onto the Almighty God, His peace guards our hearts and minds like a shield.
An Everlasting Rock to Lean On: Things in this world change, but Godās love and promises remain firm forever. Just as a great rock does not sway in the wind, God's faithfulness is strong enough to carry you through every bump in the road.
2. Stillness & Reflection š
Today, let God's Word gently prompt your heart:
In my recent days, is there an unresolved issue or worry that frequently pulls at my thoughts and leaves me feeling anxious?
Am I willing to gently turn my eyes away from that unsettling matter and fix them upon God, my Everlasting Rock?
3. Gentle Practice š
A Shift in Mindset: Today, whenever you feel anxiety creeping in, gently close your eyes, take a deep breath, and quietly say to God: "Lord, I surrender my thoughts to You. Keep me in Your perfect peace."
Carrying a Promise: Keep verse 3 in mind ("Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee..."). Let this promise serve as an inner shield for your heart throughout the day.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us Isaiah 26 today. In a world where it is so easy to feel unsettled, You lay Your perfect peace right before my heart once again.
Lord, when I face daily turmoil, unexpected worries, or inner unrest, direct my thoughts to You. Teach me not to fixate on the waves, but to anchor myself firmly upon You, my Everlasting Rock and my strongest refuge.
May Your peace surround me like a strong wall, quiet all my worries, and allow me to dwell safely in Your love today.
